The Villainization of the Norm!

Most people who know me know that I played basketball. I love the game and enjoy playing it and watching it every chance I get. I have recently been asked about Catlin Clark. Not what I think of her game but the treatment she has received since going pro. This is obviously a controversial topic, but I think this speaks to a broader issue. I always respond with, “they hate her because she is normal and that drives them crazy.” The reality is there is an attempt by mainstream culture to demonize anything normal. If you dare to hold any traditional values, you are seen as a threat to the culture that is attempting to claim that the outliers in our society are the norm. So, they must portray you as the weird one.

We saw absolute vitriol when star kicker from the Kansas City Chiefs, Harrison Butker,  teared up as he praised his wife for embracing her role as a loyal wife and mother. In fact, he is still facing backlash from, you guessed it, everyone in the mainstream media. How dare he shower his wife with gratitude for being a great mother? After all, we can’t possibly encourage this type of behavior. My Gosh. Women choosing to be devoted wives and mothers, how dare they. I am sure if you listen closely, you can almost hear the screeching feminists.

And let us not forget that the entire Presidential Campaign of 2024 is about one side of the political spectrum being “weird”. We are now in a current news cycle that tells us that drag queens and tampons in boys’ bathrooms are normal.  All the while proclaiming that a husband (in an biracial marriage) and father in a traditional nuclear family is the weird one. I don’t think so.

According to a Gallop Poll done in March of 2024, roughly 7.6% of people living in the United States identify as LGBTQ.  What this could potentially indicate is that most Americans still prefer heterosexual relationships. 7.6% of the population is actual the outliers. Most of mainstream media and entertainment are hell bent on convincing the American population that we are the weirdos for desiring tradition. Truthfully, I do not believe that most Americans care what you do in your own bedroom. Gay people have been around for a long time. But what I can’t sit by an allow any longer is to be told that having or desiring traditional family values is strange or abnormal.
